Last week, some of our founders headed to Las Vegas to attend Snowflake Summit 2023, one of the world’s largest data, apps and AI conferences. The four-day event brought together over 12,000 partners, customers, and technical experts from every corner of the globe – all keen to hear about the latest innovations coming to the Data Cloud.
With over 400 sessions held across the conference, it’s fair to say we learnt a lot. Snowflake unveiled many of their exciting new innovations set to take data even further. We had a great opportunity to present at the Sigma Computing booth. We were also privileged to have Rosemary DeAragon, Snowflake’s Global Head of Industry, showcasing the HyperFinity platform in her retail keynote talk.
The faster pace of innovation.
One of our main observations from Snowflake Summit 2023 was the sheer pace of innovation going on behind the scenes at Snowflake. From everything we saw, it’s abundantly clear they’re leading from the front when it comes to data and AI. That trailblazing energy and buzz was felt strongly throughout the entire event. There’s never been a more exciting time to be a Snowflake partner, that’s for sure.
It’s all about AI – not just ChatGPT.
Large language models (LLMs) were a key theme throughout many of the sessions, especially how they can be utilised to democratise data. With ChatGPT bringing AI to the front and centre of the public’s consciousness, many of the conference talks focused on how it can be used to extract data quickly and efficiently.
At HyperFinity, we use AI to build predictive models, and our consultants utilise it daily to optimise solutions. It’s safe to say we’re eagerly anticipating Snowflake’s latest generative AI innovation, Document AI, to unlock hidden insights from documents. Snowflake also introduced Snowpark Container Services, which will enable developers to build and scale generative AI, full-stack apps, and configurable infrastructure – all securely from within Snowflake itself.
Insights at serious speed.
Another product unveiled during the summit was the Snowflake Native App framework, which is currently in public preview on AWS. Developers will be able to build and test Snowflake native apps. There’ll be the option to buy an app on the Snowflake app store and implement it on their own software, accelerating the speed of insight gathering exponentially. This really resonated with us. Our own decision intelligence app is built on Snowflake – so we’re very excited to play around with this new framework.

Fresh opportunities in retail media.
As we approach the long-awaited death of cookies, first-party data and how retailers can take control of their customer data is something we’re very passionate about. That’s why we were thrilled to see the theme of opportunities in retail media take centre stage at the Snowflake Summit. We heard insightful talks around how retailers can combine their own data with third party insights, both to win new audiences and keep existing ones loyal. At HyperFinity, that’s truly our bread and butter.
We believe retail media will be the next big digital wave – so stay tuned for our thoughts on this topic!
Making Snowflake accessible to the masses.
Overall, one of the clearest takeaways from Snowflake 2023 is that the adoption of Snowflake is massively on the rise. This was obvious simply from the sheer number of attendees, both in-person and online. As a Snowflake partner, HyperFinity couldn’t be more excited and inspired by all of the innovations unveiled at the summit. We can’t wait to explore all of these new features and see what discoveries can be made from the results they produce!
But most significantly, it’s no longer exclusively data scientists who are getting excited by these developments. That’s because, thanks to platforms such as ours, key data and insights are now being put firmly into the hands of decision makers too. Empowering them to harness the power of data they can understand, in turn fuels better choices for their businesses.
